ICANN86 for ENS

ICANN86 created three new bodies on alternative and blockchain naming.

  • SSAC blockchain work party. A work party chaired by Rick Wesson is integrating other naming systems, "aimed at technologies in the blockchain space," into the DNS. RSSAC-SSAC open mic
  • New study group on alternative root systems. ICANN launched it during the meeting, with a small team. At-Large OFB-WG
  • Blockchain evaluation board. ICANN set up a technical evaluation board for "blockchain-based innovation and how it might be integrated or work with the DNS." At-Large regional leaders
  • KYC for AI agents. GoDaddy and Identity Digital floated identity verification for autonomous agents. AI and DNS abuse
  • "Recreate hosts.txt." John Levine called blockchain naming an attempt to rebuild the flat pre-DNS host file. SSAC lightning talks
